Please join us for worship when you are able. All are welcome! Below, please find a small sampling of sermons delivered by our pastor, The Rev. Lou Florio.

Special Sermon Series
Occasionally, Messiah breaks away from the lectionary (assigned readings) to offer a sermon series or address special topics. The following sermon was part of Messiah’s marking the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. This summer sermon series was called, “With New Voices — The Small Catechism in the 21st Century.” This week, we focused on the Lord’s Prayer. (Other presentations from this series remain on our website’s “Reformation 500” page.)

Revised Common Lectionary
As we began this current liturgical year (December 2017 through November 2018) focusing on the Gospel of Mark, Pastor Lou invited us to consider the context of Mark’s time and how the Gospel embraces our own time as well. Messiah currently follows the Revised Common Lectionary

Narrative Lectionary
During the fall of 2017, Messiah completed a four year cycle using the Narrative Lectionary. On the Sundays from September through May each year of it’s use, the texts followed the sweep of the biblical story, from creation through the early Christian church. In the summer, special sermon series were offered. The Narrative Lectionary was used at Messiah to hopefully help increase our biblical literacy.
