Members of Messiah and our Dear Guests,
Messiah’s Council, collaborating with our ministries following the advice of the Virginia Synod as well as executive orders regarding gatherings, has decided to take the following measures in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. These decisions are not taken lightly as we feel a strong commitment to Christ and our shared mission but also know we have a role in responding to public health concerns. Also, please be aware that the situation evolves daily and that we will continue to monitor a variety of information sources and will adjust Messiah’s response as new information is received and processed.
Effective immediately, Messiah is operating as follows:
- All non-essential activities occurring on church property, including Sunday worship services, have been cancelled until May 1, 2020. This is in alignment with recommendations provided by the Virginia Synod
- Our Social Ministry, Property and Evangelism teams will operate in a limited fashion, only to address health and safety concerns and to communicate with our members and the public
- We will continue Church Office hours for the time being, to conduct necessary business for the church, but members and guests are asked to not visit the church or the church office unless absolutely necessary
- All notices regarding changes to Messiah’s schedule will be communicated via email to our members, via Facebook, and on our Church calendar.
As our congregation takes measures to respond to this situation, it is equally important that we, as individuals, do our part. Please consider the advice in the resources below as you evaluate your own response to the coronavirus pandemic.
